Have now passed through the Pyrenees and into Navarra, tomorrow will be entering La Rioja where I´ve heard they bathe in wine, could be interesting. After the wind and fog of the mountains, the last few days in Navarra have been reeeally hot and sunny.
Had one terrible night when I stayed in a hostel and shared a room with the worlds loudest snorer and the following night decided to have a lie-in until ridiculously late (6.30am!) which meant I ended up walking in the heat of the day- a mistake muy grande! I´ve been passing through lots of tiny medieval hilltop villages, and felt like I was in Monty Python and the Holy Grail, and started imaging someone walking in front of me clapping coconuts together. I also started suspecting that the cuckoos were conspiring to drive me mad.
Have decide I need to drink more water and not to walk in the heat of the day anymore. I´ve also sprained my ankle so have adopted a "special" gait for walking uphill (sort of sideways), it might make me look a bit mental but seems to be getting me from A to B at the moment. Apart from that and getting bitten by loads of ants when I fell asleep beside a church one afternoon, all is going well!
(If anyone can follow the google map I made, I´m now in Torres del Rio, and tomorrow will be going to Navarette- thought I´d be able to upload photos and maps but seems to not work on this computer, boo)
sounds like an amazing journey!
ReplyDeleteboo about your ankle - should you get it looked at? do you have ankle supports?
will be great to see some photos when you get them loaded :)
